If you have been to many high school basketball games in the area this year, it's safe to say the student sections at Trigg County and Hopkinsville rank amongst the largest and most vocal.
And why not? Trigg County has put together back-to-back 20-win seasons, and Hopkinsville is the heavy favorite to repeat as region champions.
At Trigg County, the Black Hole has been a usual fixture at football and basketball games for the past five years, but it has grown in size and verocity this year. TCHS senior Kullen Garner is self-appointed ringleader of the student section that was the largest in size at the first round of the Second Region Basketball Tournament.
At Hopkinsville, senior Jack Gardner, who also plays golf and baseball for the Tigers, has taken on the role of leading the HHS Heathens at each Tiger basketball game. The Heathens took it to a different level last year as both Hopkinsville basketball teams advanced to the state tournament.
Both Garner and Gardner have used social media, especially Twitter, to let their followers know about game themes and other information. They have also used Twitter to take good-hearted (?) swipes at each other and other student sections.
