Caldwell County to play for state football title today

Caldwell County plays for the Class 2A state football title today when they face Newport Central Catholic at 11am at L.T. Smith/Houchens Stadium in Bowling Green.

The Tigers are looking for the school's third state football championship and first since 1998 when they beat a heavily-favored Danville team.

Newport Central Catholic last won a state title in 2010 when they knocked off Owensboro Catholic, who runs the similar Tony Franklin-style offense that Caldwell County runs.
