Kenneth Oakley has been named athletic director at Trigg County High School. The announcement was made via a media release from the board of education this afternoon.
Oakley is a Trigg County High School graduate playing football for both the Wildcats and Murray State University. He has served as sheriff of Trigg County, circuit court clerk, and was an agriculture teacher at both Trigg County and Christian County High School. He also served as a principal in the Christian County school system.
Oakley will be in charge of overseeing the school's athletic programs, scheduling, and funding. He will also make sure the sports programs are operating within Kentucky High School Athletic Association and Title IX guidelines.
Oakley will begin his new role Monday and replaces Dennis Walls, who resigned in November after just three months on the job.
Oakley's comments about the booster clubs coming under school control were interesting and will bear watching in the coming months.
