Lyon County scored the final six points of the game to beat Trigg County 52-49 Friday night at Wildcat Gym.
Sophomore Jill P'Poole scored nine of her 26 points in the fourth quarter, including two free throws with 13.3 seconds left to give the Lady Lyons the lead for good. She added a steal and layup at the buzzer for the final margin. P'Poole added 14 rebounds.
Trigg County got a career-high 27 points from Khadijah Grubbs before she fouled out late in the game. LeLe Grubbs added nine points and seven rebounds, and Alyssa Maxey threw in eight points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.
Lyon County scored 18 points off 21 Trigg turnovers and hit 57-percent from the free throw line. Trigg managed just 5-of-16 (31-percent) and have hit just 11-of-39 at the charity stripe in their last two games -- both losses.
Trigg County dropped to 3-4 with the loss and 1-2 in district play. Lyon is now 3-4 with their sixth straight win over Trigg County and 19th in their last 21 meetings. Lyon is 2-1 in the district.
