Trigg County got their first district win of the year and should be no worse than a three seed in the football playoffs following their 47-35 win over Reidland at Perdue Field.
Trigg jumped out to a 33-0 halftime lead before seeing the Greyhounds twice cut the lead to 12 points in the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats outgained Reidland 463-272. However, Reidland returned a fumble and a blocked punt for touchdowns.
Hakeem Tyler returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring. It was Trigg's first punt return for a TD in two years.
Andrew Stewart was 14-of-31 passing for 233 yards and a career high four touchdowns. Nick Watkins caught eight passes for 169 yards and two scores. Akeem Wilson and Jaron Gilbert also caught TD passes.
Wilson also ran for 180 yards on 14 carries and a score.
Reidland was held to 40 yards rushing on 29 carries. Carlos Rayburn had six catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a punt for a score.
Trigg County is 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the district. Reidland drops to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the district.
The Wildcats close out the district part of their schedule next Friday at Heath.
