No one ever said Mother Nature had good timing.
Lightning caused the Fourth District Boys Soccer Tournament to be postponed to Thursday. Trigg was leading Dawson Springs 1-0 early in the first half when the game was halted.
That means the two teams will play their semifinal matchup Thursday in Dawson Springs. Caldwell County and Lyon County will meet in the other semifinal.
The championship game is now scheduled for Friday night.
While other teams in the area play games on Wednesdays, both Lyon County and Dawson Springs have long been against the practice in all sports. I'm not sure how that factored into the decision to skip Wednesday and continue the tournament Thursday.
Should Trigg County advance to the district title game, it means both the soccer game and football game at Heath will be played simultaneously.
In the Third District Tournament, Christian County beat Fort Campbell 3-1 to advance to the title game. The Colonels improve to 11-11, while Fort Campbell falls to 8-7-2.
The Colonels will play Hopkinsville, a 6-0 winner over Todd County Central. Hoptown is now 14-1-6 on the season.
The championship game will be played Thursday at 7:30pm at the Stadium of Champions.
