Trigg County's Arrowcats have brought home two national titles following the National Archery In Schools Competition Saturday in Louisville.
The High School team won by the narrowest of margins. Their score of 3,397 actually tied Breckinridge County High School, but Trigg County had 200 10s (or bullseyes) compared to 191 for Breckinridge County. Just one point back was Meade County in third place.
In the female division, Sloane Patterson finished in 22nd place with 285 points, just 11 points out of first place. Jennifer Hyde (284) finished in 27th place, followed by Breanna Messmer (283) in 37th place; Ellen Shipley (280) in 52nd; Emily Shipley (280) in 53rd; Kyler Herndon (278) in 63rd; and Alexis Wiseman (275) in 94th out of 742 archers.
For the guys, Jeremy Alexander was Trigg's top finisher in 34th place with a score of 288, followed by Austin Hart (287) in 38th; Matt Brokering (287) in 42nd; Jordan Futrell (284) in 65th; and Zack Fuller (281) in 97th out of 1,133 archers.
Trigg County Intermediate School won the Elementary Division by 27 points over Breitling School of Alabama and by 44 points over third place Woodlawn Elementary School of Chatsworth, Georgia.
Rheanna Bostick finished in eighth place out of 1,046 archers in the female division with a score of 284, just four points out of first place.
Elizabeth Wagoner (279) finished tied for 16th, Kaila Cunningham (277) was 23rd; Deanna Ladd (275) was 32nd; Koryn Hatfield (273) finished 43rd; and Alexa Agosto (270) was 57th.
In the male division, Braden Miller was Trigg County's top finisher in 33rd place with a score of 278, followed by Clay Stevens (278) in 35th; Gabe Nolcox (273) in 76th; and Cody Wilson (270) in 117th.
Trigg County Middle School finished in second place with 3,346 points, which was 32 points behind first place Ashville, Alabama.
However, Trigg County's Shaye Patterson took first place overall in the division with a score of 295 out of a possible 300 points, besting 2,166 other archers -- male and female -- in the middle school division.
Elsewhere in the female division, Sarah Shipley and Patsy Banister (281) finished in 18th and 19th place respectively, followed by Kelsey Miller (277) in 38th; Ashley Wyatt (274) in 53rd; Virginia Cundiff (271) in 73rd; and Lexie Hyde (268) in 95th place.
In the male division, Jake McNab led Trigg County with a 32nd place finish (283); followed by Brent Jones (283) in 35th; Skylar Pool (282) in 38th; and Devin Litchfield (274) in 121st.
The National titles are the seventh and eighth for the Arrowcats. The High School has won three (2005, 2006, 2010), and the Elementary School has won three (2005, 2009, 2010).
