Kyle Spencer had three hits and drove in two runs, and Christian County scored in every inning to beat Trigg County 15-5 Monday in the 2010 season opener for both teams.
Christian County batted around in the first inning in plating five runs. Phillip Morgan drove in two runs with an RBI single as part of a two-hit day.
The Colonels led 7-0 after two innings before Trigg County rallied with five runs in the third. Hunter Smilie drove in two with a single, and Jared Stallons added an RBI single.
However, Christian County scored four runs in the bottom of the third and four more in the fourth to invoke the mercy rule.
Mitchell Blackmon plated two runs with a single in the third inning, and Cole Isom had a two-run single in the fourth.
Isom picked up the win on the mound, allowing two earned runs in four innings, striking out three and walking three. Smilie took the loss for Trigg, giving up 11 runs, seven of which were earned.
Trigg County hosts Christian Fellowship today at 6pm at the Complex, while Christian County hosts Hopkins County Central at 5:30pm at Colonel Field.
