Butler Stadium in Princeton plays host to the Girls Second Region Soccer Tournament that gets underway tonight in Princeton.
This year's semifinal matchups are a repeat of last year's pairings.
At 6pm, Trigg County and Hopkinsville meet in the first semifinal. The two teams did not meet in the regular season. Hopkinsville has won a school record 17 games this year in 20 games and carries a 13-game winning streak into tonight's game. Trigg County (11-5) has also set a school record in wins and looks to advance to the region title game for the first time in school history. Hopkinsville averages five goals a game, while Trigg scores four a contest.
At 8pm, the two schools who have combined to win the last four region titles square off when Caldwell County (16-2-1) plays University Heights (12-7).
The two teams did not meet during the regular season. Caldwell County, who won three straight region titles from 2005-07, carries a 12-game unbeaten streak (11-0-1) into tonight's game. UHA ended Caldwell's run in the semifinals last year and went on to win their first region title in school history.
Tonight's winners play in Thursday's championship game at 8pm.
The boys' region tournament begins Tuesday at Fort Campbell.
