Trigg County claimed two more state titles at the National Archery in Schools Program State Competition Tuesday in Louisville. It marks the seventh straight year that Trigg County has won a state title.
Trigg County's High School team also took first with a score of 3,397. Trigg had four of the top five archers, including the overall female champion in Danielle Reddick (right), who scored a 290 and hit the bullseye 22 times. Reddick also won the David T. Wilson Elementary School Scholarship Shoot-Off and earned $1,250.
Jennifer Hyde finished second, Sloane Patterson 4th, Ellen Shipley 5th, Emily Shipley 22nd, Kyler Herndon 23rd, Brianna Mesmer 27th, Kameo Bingham 35th, Haley Thomas 48th, Christi Wilson 57th, Taylor Davis 62nd, and Amber Billham 142nd.
Sloane Patterson also took second in the scholarship shoot-off and won $1,000, while Jennifer Hyde was third and won $750.
For the guys, Timmy Blakeley finished 10th, Josh Hyde 15th, Jeremy Alexander 17th, Landon Sumner 22nd, Matt Brokering 30th, Grady Cofield 41st, Kyler Black 50th, Ryan Russell 51st, Jordan Futrell 69th, Connor McCloud 101st, Caleb Rawlins 133rd, and Mark Ledford 141st.
Trigg's elementary team won the state title with a team score of 3,137 points. There were 586 male archers in this category, with Brent Jones finishing 12th. Other Trigg finishers were Devin Litchfield 23rd, Skylar Pool 36th, Austin Humphries 38th, Dakota Overton 61st, Gabe Nolcox 65th, Brandon Schafer 72nd, Evan Smith 87th, Conner Knight 89th, Dallas McCloud 95th, Montgomery Smith 95th, Jacob Oliver 107th, Zack Colbert 137th, Cole Holland 171st, Graham Lawrence 274th, and Tristan Calhoun 388th.
There were 332 female archers in the elementary girls division, with Kaila Cunningham winning third place with a score of 271. Other finishers were Deanna Ladd 10th, Sarah Shipley 17th, Tabby Rawlins 21st, Elizabeth Wagoner 23rd, Alexa Agosto 24th, Virginia Cundiff 59th, Lexie Terrell 64th, Kayla Bingham 69th, and Brooklyn Stevens 87th.
The Trigg County Middle School team finished third with a score of 3,232 points. Patsy Banister, last year's national champion, took second place at the state level with a score of 282 out of 245 archers. Other finishers were Shaye Patterson 12th, Lexie Hyde 13th, Emily Holder 15th, Shateanna Stewart 32nd, Kelsey Miller 41st, Shelby King 72nd, and Hannah Cross 106th.
For the guys, Duncan Mangels finished 14th out of 466 archers. Chance Lancaster finished 36th, followed by Kendal Merrick 44th, Zach Johnson 57th, Garrett Brown 63rd, Jake MacNab 65th, Ryan McCloud 153rd, Tyler Knight 177th, Tristan Goodwin 204th, and Allen Humphries 225th.
Over 2,300 students from 104 schools competed in the state tournament. All three of Trigg County's teams will advance to the national competition to be held May 7-9 in Louisville.
