Ashley Matlock scored a career-high 21 points to lead Trigg County past St. Mary 56-52 Tuesday night in Paducah. The win marked the first time since last January that Trigg County has won consecutive games.
Trigg led 22-20 at halftime and 35-32 after three quarters. The Lady Wildcats took a 51-44 lead on a three-pointer by Trinity Wortham, but St. Mary pulled to within 53-52 with nine seconds left. Matlock hit one of two free throws for a 54-52 lead. Janada Acree stole the inbounds pass and scored for the final margin.
Matlock's 21 points led Trigg, while Brooke Kearney hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points. Acree scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds, while Wortham scored eight points.
Trigg County was helped by a 13-of-17 performance at the free throw line.
Megan Tincher led St. Mary (7-13) with 18 points, and Peyton Vaughn scored 17 points.
Trigg County will host Caldwell County Friday night at Wildcat Gym.
