Edmonson County had the hot hand from the outside and dealt Lyon County a 68-50 loss in the first round of the All-A Classic State Tournament in Richmond this morning.
Edmonson County hit 10 three-pointers in the game which fueled a pair of runs that proved to be the difference in the game.
Edmonson County used a 16-4 run in the first quarter but Lyon battled back to tie the game at 30 at halftime.
The Wildcats then put the game away with a 19-8 second half run and led by as many as 19 points late.
Ramsey Walker had 14 points and eight rebounds for Lyon County, while Timmy Perdue added 13 points, and Taylor Gray scored 11. Lyon County shot just 40-percent from the field and was just 1-of-16 from 3-point range.
Cody Rich hit five 3-pointers and led Edmonson County with 31 points and 15 rebounds. Mike Wallace added 12 points as the Wildcats shot 54-percent from the field and hit 10-of-21 from 3-point range.
Edmonson County also outrebounded Lyon County 36-22.
Lyon County is now 15-4 on the season.
Edmonson County is 12-7 and will play Bardstown in the second round.
