Trigg County opens the new basketball season Tuesday night at Wildcat Gym as they host the teams from Fulton City.
The girls game will be at 6pm, with the boys to tip around 7:30.
The Lady Wildcats return all five starters from last year's team that went 6-21.
Sophomore Elysia Brown (9.7 ppg.) and senior Janada Acree (8.9 ppg.) were the leading scorers for Trigg last year, with Acree averaging 9.1 rebounds a game.
Sophomore Brooke Kearney (7.3 ppg.) and senior Trinity Wortham (5.7 ppg.) are also back on the perimeter for the Lady Wildcats.
Trigg County also welcomes a new player and two former players who will provide much needed depth for the Lady Wildcats.
Audrey Futrell (shins), who averaged 2.4 points a game two years ago, and Laykn Brooks (ACL), who missed the last two years after averaging 5.4 points as a freshman, are back for Trigg.
Also, sophomore Ashley Matlock, a transfer from Christian County who can play guard and forward, expects to see considerable time on the floor.
Senior Dori Sheehan (3.7 ppg., 4.4 rpg.) and sophomore Morgan Parker (2.9 ppg., 5.2 rpg.) expect to return in the paint for the Lady Wildcats.
Trigg County swept both games from Fulton City last year. Fulton City was 0-21 last year and carry a 57-game losing streak into Wildcat Gym tonight.
Meanwhile, Trigg's boys will play Fulton City for the first time tonight.
Like the ladies, the guys return all five starters from last year's 10-17 team that lost to Lyon County in the first round of the district tournament.
Seniors Jonathon King (23.9 ppg., 7.2 rpg.) and Shelton Burress (13.9 ppg.) were the top scorers for Trigg County last year, while Dustin White (6.9 ppg., 5.3 rpg.), Zeke Wright (7.0 ppg., 6.1 rpg.), and Jalik Alexander (6.9 ppg., 4.3 rpg.) also return.
Trigg has depth at guard with Bradley Davis and in the paint from 6-4 junior Blake Mitchell, a transfer from Florida who played his freshman year at Christian County.
Fulton City returns one of the top players in the First Region in 6-3 guard Aaron Wilson. The Bulldogs were 17-11 last year and won the First District before falling in the region semifinals.
Airtime Tuesday night for both games is 6pm on WKDZ-FM and online at www.wkdzradio.com.
