Trigg County took a step closer to gaining the top seed in the district tournament with a 3-2 win Thursday night at the Complex.
The Lady Wildcats got off to a fast start when Kelci Winn took a Laykn Brooks pass and scored three minutes into the game.
Kelsey Martin of Lyon County tied the game at 1-1 at the 16:00 mark when she scored off an assist from Stephanie Gray.
Paige McKinney gave Lyon County a 2-1 lead at the 34:00 mark of the first half when she poked in a goal that just cleared the top crossbar.
Brooks gave Trigg County some momentum when she scored off a Winn pass two minutes before halftime.
Winn banged home a rebound at the 58:00 mark that turned out to be the game-winner.
Danni Romero had nine saves in goal for the Lady Wildcats, who even their record at 6-6-1 on the season.
Lyon County fell to 5-4-2.
Trigg County won the JV game 3-0.
The Lady Wildcats play at University Heights Saturday afternoon at 1:30.

- The win marked Trigg County's first victory over Lyon County in seven career meetings.
- Winn leads the team in multi-goal games this year.
- Both teams had 14 shots in the game.
- The six wins is a new record for Trigg girls' soccer. The Lady Wildcats have four regular season games left.

- Sara Allen scored another hat trick has University Heights shut out Reidland 5-0. Alli Ross and Jessica Harper also had goals for the Lady Blazers, who improve to 9-3-1 on the season.
- UHA also won a co-ed soccer game with St. Peter and Paul Middle School as Sally Smith scored the hat trick.
- Christian County shut out St. Mary 2-0.
