Trigg County overcame a 2-0 deficit and forged a tie with one of the region's top teams Tuesday night. The Lady Wildcats tied Hopkinsville 2-2 and ended the Lady Tigers' six-game winning streak.
Bennett Peck scored off a pass from Abbey Pace 30 minutes into the game for the lone goal of the first half. Peck then fed Payton Bucko in the 66th minute for a 2-0 Hoptown lead.
Trigg County added a goal a few minutes later on a free kick from Taylor Davis. Laykn Brooks scored on a breakaway with five minutes left to tie the game.
Katie Davis had 11 saves in goal for the Lady Wildcats.
"I really liked what I saw from the girls tonight, and if they keep it going into Thursday, I like our chances to be as competitive with Lyon as we have ever been," Lady Wildcat head coach Mike Smith said.
Hopkinsville won the JV game 4-1 behind a hat trick from Lexie Bozell.
Trigg County is now 5-6-1 on the season while Hopkinsville is 10-2-1.
Trigg hosts Lyon County Thursday.
