Trigg County tied a school record with their eighth straight win, knocking off Lyon County 7-0. It marked Trigg's largest margin of victory over the Lyons in 38 career meetings.
Trigg led 2-0 at halftime and scored five goals in the second for the final margin.
Jared Stallons had two goals, while Trevor Harper, Joel Ben Thomas, Devon Wharton, and Jeremy Stamps had the other goals.
Thomas, Harper, Roman Cail, Zach Adams, and Jeremy Butts (2) had the assists.
We played a much better second half than first and we overwhelmed them as the game went on. We were able to do a lot of subbing and everyone who went in played well," said Wildcat head coach Josh Nichols.
Josh Green pitched another shutout in goal for the Wildcats, who swept Lyon County in the regular season for the first time since 1993.
The Wildcats are now 11-1-1 and have allowed just two goals in their last four games. Trigg County will travel to Caldwell County Thursday.
In other games tonight:
- Hertitage Christian Academy beat Glasgow Christian 5-0. Ryan Harris had two goals, while Celeste Tierny, Joe Alvarado, and Alex Little each had one.
- Luke Carpenter, Harris, Alvarado, Andy Knight, and Connor Alexander had the assists, and Dan Ligibel had the shutout in goal. HCA is now 8-2.
- Hopkins County Central and Hopkinsville tied 1-1
- Marshall County edged Fort Campbell 4-3.
