Fort Campbell is looking for a new boys' basketball coach following the resignation of Amy Gammons last week.
Fort Campbell athletic director Rhonda Welliever told me today that Gammons resigned for "personal reasons." She added the job opening will be posted in the school system and that candidates will be accepted there before looking outside the district.
Gammons was one of the few female coaches of a boys' basketball team in state history. Her teams were 59-66 in five seasons, including a 14-8 record this past season.
Fort Campbell was 3-23 in her first season in 2003-04 before posting a school record 18 wins the very next year.
In 2006, the Falcons were 16-9 and advanced to the Second Region Tournament for the first time in over two decades.
If you subtract the first season, the Falcons were 56-43 in her final four years as head coach.
