Trigg County junior Abigail Torian was named the Kentucky Class 1A Track and Field Athlete of the Year based on a statewide vote of track and field coaches.
Torian swept the 100 and 200 meters at last month's state meet and was the anchor on the state champion 400 and 800-meter relay teams. She is the first Trigg County athlete since Pauline White in 2002 to win four state titles in the same year.
Torian was also named First Team All-State in the 100 and 200-meters, while the 400 and 800 meter relay teams were also named First Team All-State.
Janada Acree was named Second Team All-State in the high jump.
For the guys, Scotty Mayes was named Second Team All-State in the 100-meter dash, while the 3200-meter relay team was named First Team All-State.
Also in Class 1A, Lyon County middle schooler Zhanna Trimm was named Second Team All-State in the 1600-meter run, while Timmy Perdue was Second Team All-State in the long jump.
