University Heights broke out of a season-long hitting slump and erupted for nine first inning runs on their way to a 16-5 win over Trigg County Friday at the Complex.
It marked the first time the Wildcats had lost via the 10-run rule this year.
The Blazers came into the game with a .223 team batting average but roughed up five different Wildcat pitchers for 16 hits on the afternoon.
Jordan Grace had two hits and six RBIs, including a three-run double. He was one of six Blazers with two hits in the game.
UHA scored nine runs in the first inning off four hits. Four of the nine walks issued by Trigg pitchers was also in the first inning.
Trigg scored three runs in the second inning on an RBI single by Jordan P'Pool and a single by Mitch Rogers that scored two runs. It was one of three singles for Rogers on the day. Shane Banks also had two of Trigg's nine hits.
Kyle Barbee pitched five innings to pick up the win for UHA (8-8), walking four and striking out two.
Tyler Greenman didn't retire a batter and suffered the pitching loss for the Wildcats (9-8), who play at Hopkinsville today at 1pm and play Greenwood at 3pm, also at Hopkinsville.
