Trigg County got the offense head coach Jackie Sholar was looking for, but Madisonville had more as the Maroons beat the Wildcats 14-8 Saturday evening in Madisonville.
It was the first game in over a week for the Wildcats, who saw their previous six games postponed because of the weather.
Down 2-0, Trigg County scored five runs in the third inning on RBI singles by Donald Bush and R.J. Sholar and a single by Jamey Guinn that scored two.
Madisonville countered with two runs in the third inning and broke the game open with 10 runs in the fifth inning, scored off six hits and four walks.
Trigg added three more runs in the sixth inning when R.J. Sholar drove in two with a single, and Josh Green added an RBI single.
The Wildcats finished with 12 hits on the evening, with Guinn getting three singles and two RBIs. Sholar, Green, Tyler Greenman, and Will Stagner each had two hits.
Shane Banks suffered the pitching loss for the Wildcats (1-3), who host Murray today at 5pm.
