Caldwell County scored 10 runs in the final two innings to break open a close game and sail to a 14-0 win over Trigg County Tuesday at the Complex.
Ahead 4-0 heading into the sixth inning, Caldwell County (11-4) scored five runs on six hits in the sixth and five runs on four hits and two errors in the seventh inning.
Caldwell County's freshman pitcher Samm Jones pitched a one-hitter, striking out six and walking none. She retired the final 12 batters in the game.
Trigg's lone hit was a fourth inning single by Hanna Oliver.
Mandy Gray, Emily Meeks, and Hannah Riddle each had three hits as part of Caldwell's 15-hit attack. Riddle drove in six runs, while Meeks drove in three.
Dakota Littlejohn suffered the loss for Trigg County (1-11). Only nine of the 14 runs she allowed were earned. She struck out six and walked four in the 155-pitch effort.
Trigg County returns to action Thursday at home against Fort Campbell in a game you can hear on Boomer Radio 96.5FM.
