Trigg County opened the 2008 softball season Monday with a 19-0 loss to Hopkinsville at the Complex.
Hoptown scored four runs in the first inning, four more in the fourth, and ended the game with 11 runs in the fifth inning. Hopkinsville had 13 hits in the game and took advantage of seven walks and two Trigg errors.
Melissa Shelton had three hits to lead Hopkinsville, while Dakota Littlejohn had Trigg's only hit. Littlejohn also absorbed the pitching loss for the Lady Wildcats.
Trigg returns to action again Tuesday with a district road game at Crittenden County.
