Alex Legion to transfer from Kentucky

Freshman guard Alex Legion has decided to transfer from Kentucky, becoming the first person to jump off the S.S. Gillispie.

Despite starting two of UK's first five games, the guard from Michigan becomes the second Wildcat player to leave the program this year.  Freshman walk-on Kerry Benson left the team last week to "focus on academics."

Word has it, the transfer has nothing to do with playing time but more to do with Wildcat head coach Billy Gillispie's treatment of the freshman. 

According to the story in The Sporting News, momma played a role in the transfer.

Joshua Mack released from scholarship at Coastal Carolina

Former UHA guard Joshua Mack has asked for and been granted a release from his basketball scholarship, the school has announced.

This year, Mack played in six games, averaging 2.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 13.3 minutes a game. As a freshman, Mack started in 26 of the 29 games he played, averaging 12.3 points per game and handed out 2.7 assists per contest en route to earning Big South Freshman of the Year honors.

Mack apparently doesn't fit into new coach Cliff Ellis' deliberate style of offense.  Mack was recruited by Buzz Peterson, who took a job in the front office of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats.

College Bowl Game Schedule

Here is a look at the college bowl game schedule for the 2007 season that ends in 2008.  The BCS National Championship Game features LSU and Ohio State.

The other BCS bowl games feature Oklahoma and West Viginia (Fiesta); Kansas and Virginia Tech (Orange); Hawaii and Georgia (Sugar); and USC and Illinois (Rose).

The bowl games, times, dates, and TV Networks are listed.

Pro athletes becoming bigger targets for burglaries, home invasions

I don't blog much on pro sports.  My interest in professional sports outside of baseball isn't much these days.  I still follow baseball because it is the sport I grew up watching.

I still watch some NFL, mainly the Titans because of their proximity to here.  I also follow a few players because they are on my fantasy team.

Haven't watched the NBA since Larry Bird and Michael Jordan left.

Too many times recently, whenever a pro athlete and criminal investigation are mentioned in the same sentence, it usually means they have broken the law.

However, the recent death of Washington Redskins' player Sean Taylor is part of a disturbing trend involving athletes and criminals.

Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports talks about how criminals are becoming targets for much more than overzealous fans and pickpockets in this story.

It's official: Kentucky vs. Florida State in the Music City Bowl

As was posted here Saturday, it will be Kentucky and Florida State in the Music City Bowl in Nashville on New Year's Eve.

Look for 'Cats and 'Noles in the Music City Bowl

Even though the SEC has issued a gag order on schools announcing their postseason bowl destinations, it appears that a Kentucky/Florida State matchup in the Music City Bowl in Nashville is close to happening.

Several Florida newspapers are reporting that Florida State expects to get the Music City nod, while a Lexington radio station is also ready to confirm the matchup. 

After Kentucky beat Clemson in the bowl game last year and brought with them enough fans to fill the seats, it's likely the Music City people would again like to see the seats filled.

Like Kentucky, Florida State is 7-5 this year.
