Trigg County lineman Ben Koenig (seen at right blocking for Brandon Bridges) was selected to the Paducah Sun's first 24-man all-star football team, that includes schools from Kentucky and Illinois in the Sun's coverage area.
Koenig, a 6-4, 305-pound senior, was chosen to the offensive line for the team. Other offensive players selected included Lone Oak's record-setting quarterback Corey Robinson and Heath running back Chad Wright. Also picked were Marshall County running back Alan Williams, receivers Jamarielle Brown of Lone Oak and David Rogers and Byron Bailey of Massac County, Ill.; linemen Micah Northcutt of Marshall County, Grant Williams of Calloway County, and Graves County teammates Brannon Sanford and Jonathon Harms. The kicker is Mayfield's Tommy McNutt.
The defensive team consists of linemen Levi Pruiett of Mayfield, Clint Fulks of Marshall County, Drey Duncan of Elizabethtown, and Ben Grimm of Reidland; linebackers Brent Simpkins of Mayfield, Tyrell Willis of Calloway County, and Isaiah Holt of Paducah Tilghman; defensive backs Dae-Ron Williams of Fulton City, Brandon Walker of Marshall County, Justin Towery of Graves County, and Bradley James of Paducah Tilghman; and Graves County punter Ely Collins.
The team was announced in today's Paducah Sun.
