Trigg County opened the middle school football season with a sweep of Logan County Tuesday at Perdue Field.
The eighth graders won 12-8, while the seventh grade team posted a 6-0 shutout.
In the 8th grade game, Logan County opened the scoring by returning a fumble for a touchdown and converting the two-pointer for an 8-0 lead.
Midcat quarterback Jeffery Bailey hit Clay Iaquinta on a 50-yard TD pass to cut the Logan lead to 8-6.
Jamal Adams scored on a 5-yard run to give Trigg the final 12-8 advantage.
Midcat head coach Scott Morton was pleased with the play of the Midcat defense, led by Alijujuan Williams, that didn't allow Logan to score an offensive touchdown and shut them out on several fourth down conversions.
In the 7th grade game, Jermya Love rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown as the Midcats won 6-0.
The Midcats return to action Tuesday at Hopkinsville Middle School.
