The Kentucky Blazers finished second over the weekend at the Evansville Razorback Classic. The area baseball team lost to Team Ontario 3-2 in nine innings to finish second.
Trigg County's Will Stagner help to plate the first Blazer run on a long sacrifice fly RBI. The other Blazer run was another sacrifice fly by Josh Hilling. Matt McGowan led the hitting attack with three singles, while Trigg County's Donald Bush added two singles along with Cole Isom. Justin Hageman was the losing pitcher after pitching 9 complete innings.
In other games on Friday, the Blazers beat the Indiana Yankees 13-5. Justin Hageman was 4-for-4 with a home run. Will Stagner and Donald Bush added three hits each for the team as well as two hits from Matt McGowan, Kyle Barbee, and Josh Hilling.
Cole Isom was the winning pitcher to complete 7 innings.
Friday Evening's play saw the Blazers beat the Kentucky Mustangs 6-5. Donald Bush hit a two-run homer to put the Blazers ahead for good. Also adding hits for the team were Matt McGowan, Justin Hageman, Will Stagner, Kyle Barbee, Jason Denton, and Austin Connor. Kyle Barbee was the winning pitcher, tossing a complete game.
The Blazers beat Northside Legion 4-3 in an early morning Saturday game. Dylan Carroll, the winning pitcher, had 7 strikeouts and allowed only one walk in the game.
Players contributing hits in this game were Matt McGowan, Justin Hageman, Kyle Barbee, Jason Denton, Tony Beatty, and Josh Hilling.
Saturday afternoon saw the Blazers beat the Evansville Funkhousers 9-6. Donald Bush was the winning pitcher for this game, pitching a complete game.
Matt McGowan and Justin Hageman both had doubles, with singles coming from Donald Bush, Will Stagner, Kyle Barbee, Jason Denton, and Cole Isom.
Winning the four games on Friday and Saturday put the Blazers in the Championship game being the only team undefeated in pool play.
Sunday morning, the Blazers were defeated by the Eugene Pate Legion team 6-4. Cole Isom was the losing pitcher, pitching the last two innings of the game as he came in to close for Josh Hilling.
Players adding hits to this game were Matt McGowan and Donald Bush with a double and single; Austin Connor with two singles; and Justin Hageman, Jason Denton, and Kyle Barbee each with a single.
The Blazers' season record now stands at 23-4, with the team being outscored by a total of seven runs in those four losses.
