Trigg County's Amber Abate took third place in the middle school division of the National Archery in Schools competition Saturday in Louisville.
Abate, who won the state meet back in April, scored a 287 out of 300 to finish third out of about 60 archers. She also finished third in the scholarship contest, just missing out on the tie-breaker. Abate won a $1,250 scholarship for finishing third.
Abate helped the middle school Arrowcats finish third.
Archery coach Teresa Russell said the elementary school placed in the top five at the event. Other results are expected to be posted on the Archery in Schools website in a matter of days.
Russell did want to thank the community and the parents for their support during the season.
Henderson County won the middle school and high school division.
Over 1,800 archers from 26 states took part in the fifth annual competition, that was held at the Louisville Fair and Exposition Center.
