Russellville used a six-run second inning to beat Trigg County 10-2 Tuesday at the Complex.
The Panthers (2-0) banged out nine hits in the game. They added two runs in the fourth inning and single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
Trigg scored their two runs in the fourth inning. Kyle Allen doubled and John David Fourqurean and Will Stagner followed with RBI singles. Allen finished 2-for-3 for the day.
Wes Rutherford picked up the pitching win for the Panthers, while Fourqurean suffered the loss for Trigg.
"Walks and hit batters just hurt us today. We also didn't have any timely hitting, and we need that right now because we're playing pretty good defense," head coach Jackie Sholar said.
A bright spot for Trigg County was Tony Finley, who allowed just one earned run in four innings of work.
Trigg County (0-2) returns to action Thursday at Todd County Central (0-2) in a 5pm contest.
