It wasn't the debut Trigg County softball coach Jamie Howell was hoping for.
Hopkinsville scored 11 unanswered runs to hand the Lady Wildcats an 11-1 loss Monday night in Hopkinsville.
Whitney Cain had two hits, including a run-scoring single in the first inning that plated Dakota Littlejohn.
However, Hopkinsville took advantage of some shaky Trigg defense to score two runs in the bottom of the first and eight more in the second inning to put the game away.
"We just committed too many errors, and had a lack of effort at times," Howell said.
Trigg County (0-1) will host Crittenden County tonight at 5:30pm at the Complex.
