Matt Reed hit a two-run home run, and Chase Joiner pitched five scoreless innings as Christian County ruined the coaching debut of Jackie Sholar and beat the Wildcats 5-0 Monday in Hopkinsville.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Reed hit the homer. Joiner added a two-run single in the fifth, and Keith Tandy later scored on a steal of home.
Five different players had hits for Trigg County. John David Fourqurean had a double, and Donald Bush, Devon Morris, Ryan Eubanks, and Tyler Greenman all singled.
Christian County had six hits in the game.
Lucas Riddle pitched six inning, striking out seven and walking one to pick up the tough loss for the Wildcats.
"I'm proud of the way we played," Sholar said. "We hit the ball hard all night, but it was right at them."
Trigg County returns to action tonight against Russellville at 5pm at the Complex. Russellville shutout Fort Campbell 10-0 Monday.
