Former Christian County All-State pitcher Sarah Driver made her college debut by striking out a school record 13 batters in Union College's 7-1 win over Lindsey Wilson Tuesday.
Driver gave up just one run and three hits and bettered the old strikeout mark of nine set four years ago. Driver also got it done at the plate with three hits and two RBIs.
Another former Christian County standout helped Driver get the win on the mound. Junior Lyla Blauser went 4-for-4 at the plate and got her season off to a strong start. Blauser broke the school record last year for steals (30), runs scored (37), and hit by a pitch (12). Blauser hit .261 with 14 RBIs last year.
