Former Christian County All-State guard Corkey Stiger was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week.
Stiger averaged 21.5 points, 3.5 steals, and 3.0 assists last week as fourth-ranked Washburn (Kan.) University won both games they played. She scored 17 of her 24 points at Southwest Baptist in the second half Tuesday (Feb. 6), contributing eight in a 13-0 run during the final stanza.
Stiger was 10-of-16 from the field against the Lady Bearcats, including 3-of-5 from the arc, as she missed her season-high by a single point.
In a 94-63 home win over Truman Saturday (Feb. 10), Stiger scored 19 points with four assists, four steals and three rebounds. She tallied 13 first-half points against the Bulldogs.
For the week, Stiger hit 62.1 percent (18-of-29) from the field, including 4-of-7 from the three-point line.
Stiger, a 5-9 junior, is averaging 13.7 points and leads the 21-2 Lady Blues in assists and steals.
