Crittenden County clinched the top seed in the Fifth District Tournament Tuesday with a 53-45 win over Trigg County in Marion. Trigg County will be the #2 seed in the district tournament.
Trigg County used a 9-0 fourth quarter run to tie the game at 40 with 2:15 left in the game. But Crittenden County hit their next three shots and seven straight free throws to end the game on a 13-5 run.
The Wildcats suffered through another tough shooting night, hitting 3-of-19 shots (15%) in the first half and 16-of-55 (29%) for the game. Trigg was a miserable 3-of-21 (14%) from 3-point range.
Crittenden County shot 50% from the field and 69% from the free throw line. Crittenden also won the rebounding battle 38-22.
Rodney Davis scored 21 points on 6-of-20 shooting from the field. Jonathon King added eight points on 3-of-15 shooting.
Gage Courtney led Crittenden County with 16 points, and Josh Cosby added 10 points.

The Rockets are now 6-5 overall and 4-1 in district play.
Trigg County falls to 6-11 overall with the loss and 3-3 in district play -- the first time in four years the Wildcats have lost three district games.
The Wildcats return to action next Tuesday at Lone Oak.
