Everyone expected a blowout, but Trigg County played with border rival Caldwell County before running out of gas in the fourth quarter and fell 76-60 Tuesday night in Princeton.
Caldwell led 35-34 but was able to pull away in the second half to end a three-game losing streak against the Wildcats.
Jonathon King led the Wildcats with 22 points, while Rodney Davis added 14 points and seven assists. Ryan Eubanks also scored nine points.
Caldwell County was led by Matt Fraliex, who scored 26 points -- nine points under his average. Jake Pepper added 19 points, and Coley Rogers scored 10 points.
Caldwell hit 19-of-24 from the free throw line, while Trigg was just 6-of-13.
Caldwell also won the JV game 45-35.
Trigg County falls to 2-5 with the loss and has the rest of the week off from the playing schedule. They will return to action Dec. 27 in the Marion (Ill.) Round Robin.
Caldwell County improves to 6-1 and will play in the Old Racer Arena Shootout later this week in Murray.
