There were no rampaging sprinklers this time as Trigg County got their second win of the season with a 2-1 win over St. Mary Thursday at the Complex.
The game was rescheduled from last month when a damaged sprinkler flooded one end of the field hours before the season opener was set to begin.
Laykn Brooks made up for lost time with a pair of goals. Her first goal came 11 minutes into the game before St. Mary tied the game at 1-1 eight minutes later.
Kelci Winn fed Brooks on a pass for her second goal at the 61:00 mark for the game-winner.
Trigg County's offense fired 27 shots toward the goal, while Lady Wildcat goalie Lyndsey Darnall made ten saves in goal.
"I really like the way the girls are coming together," head coach Mike Smith said. "The defense is starting to toughen up, and our offense is coming together."
Smith has been really pleased with a defensive unit that has given up just eight goals in the last four games.
"The ladies in the back don't get much credit, but they are keeping us in every game," he said.
Trigg County stands at 2-3-2 on the season and hosts Todd County Central Monday at the Complex.
Trigg's JV played a short-sided 8-on-8 game and came away with a scoreless tie with St. Mary.
