After a 950-mile round trip to Virginia in two days, it's good to be back home.
On the trip, I passed several high school football fields, including Perdue Field as I left Cadiz, the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville, Rhea Stadium in Russellville, and the stadiums at Corbin, Somerset (nice for a Class A school), Knox Central (new facility), Lynn Camp, Pineville (old and historic), Bell County, and Thomas Walker, Va.
One of the more interesting fields I saw was in Grayson County, Virginia (home of the Blue Devils). The home bleachers were cut into the side of a hill with a large clump of trees behind them -- kind of like Perdue Field without the trees. However, the school used some ingenuity to add another 500 seats when they put two sets of metal bleachers on the hill atop the permanent bleachers, which actually set higher than the press box.
The same thing could be done at Perdue Field in the area above the empty hill but it would sacrifice some parking to do so.
