Wildcat head football coach weighed in on the new football alignment that has Trigg County in the same Class 2A district with Murray, Reidland, Caldwell County, and Heath.
"I have no problem with the new district. I'm glad to see some new blood in the district with Murray coming in," he said.
Trigg County and Murray met in the Class A playoffs four times from 1989-95, with Murray winning the final three games. Murray leads the all-time series with Trigg 33-15-1. The schools have not played since the 2000 playoffs.
Higgins said the 2007 schedule will feature district games in weeks 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9, with Trigg having a bye week in one of those weeks. That leaves six non-district games to schedule.
"That may not be easy," Higgins said, adding that coaches have been instructed not to schedule any games prior to Oct. 1 and that any contracts signed before then will be considered void.
