On Monday, July 27th, 2010, Zane King with Compassion's Nashville Office stopped by the Live Afternoon Drive to make a special announcement. WKDZ is partnering with Compassion to give listeners the opportunity to sponsor children living in extreme poverty. For a little over a dollar a day a child in need can be fed, clothed, educated and given access to medical care. In addition Compassion and WKDZ will make a donation to the HELPING HANDS BACK PACK PROGRAM. Bill Booth will travel to Colombia, South America with Compassion; Country Star, Blaine Larsen; and Country Duo, THE ROYS. He'll originate the Live Afternoon Drive from Colombia August16th-19th.
For each child helped overseas, a donation will be made that will feed on child for a school year through the BACK PACK Program. HELPING HANDS, Director, K.G. Ariagno was on hand for the announcement as well.
Below is a list of items that can be donated for the Children. Bill will take them as he heads for Colombia, South America August 15-20.
For the Sponsorship Projects: school supplies, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, soccer ball (suggestion: deflate it for travel and bring a pump to inflate it), jump rope, crayons and coloring books, stickers.
