Trigg wrestlers compete at All Results Camp

Trigg County had four wrestlers compete at the Seventh Annual All Results Wrestling Camp at Austin Peay State University.

Darren Boren, Aaron Stevens, Ryan Gallogly, and Collin Stevens took part in the camp, which featured instruction by former U.S. Olympic silver medalist and U.S. Olympic head coach Zeke Jones and NCAA champions Greg Strobel and Duane Goldman.

Collin Stevens won the hustle award while at the camp.

"It was a great camp for the kids," said TCMS wrestling coach Ralph Stevens.  "I look forward to next year's camp and hope we can take more kids to the camp."

Elementary wrestling tournament slated for Saturday

Trigg County will host an elementary wrestling tournament Saturday at 9am at Wildcat Gym.

Trigg wrestling coach Ralph Stevens expects 11 schools and over 200 wrestlers ages 6 to 12 to compete in the tournament.  Admission is free.

Meanwhile, Trigg County competed in the Christian County tournament Saturday.

First place winners were Collin Stevens, Malik Cunningham, and Jordan Walker.

Second place finishers were C.J. Ahart, Wyatt Holstrom, and Elliott Boyd.

Third place finishers were Braden Sperry, Jessie Sperry, Matthew Carneyhan, Keegan Sloane, Taylor Hampton, and Keegan Mangels.

Elementary wrestlers win region meet

Trigg County won the elementary school regional wrestling tournament Saturday at Midcat Gym.

Trigg's 63 points were better than second place Christian County (40).  UHA (29) was third, followed by Union County (28), Daviess County (17), and Hopkinsville (4).

First place winners for Trigg County were C.J. Ahart (4-6 45 class); Brice Cunningham (50 class); Trae Thompson (65); Jordan Walker (7-8 year old 60 class); Collin Stevens (7-8 60 class); Braden Sperry (9-10 year old 75 class); Keegan Mangles (9-10 80 class); and Elliott Boyd (11-12 year old 120 class).

Second place finishers for Trigg were Tyson Bush (7-8 y/o 100 class); Taylor Hampton (9-10 y/o 75 class); McKenzie Fowler (80 class); Jeremiah Kline (11-12 y/o 70 class); and Jesse Sperry (120 class).

The state meet will be this Saturday at Fern Creek High School in Louisville.

Trigg wrestlers fare well at UHA meet

Trigg County had two wrestlers claim first place finishes at the University Heights wrestling meet over the weekend.

Devonae Cunningham was a first place finisher in the elementary school division, while Jeremiah Kline took first place in his middle school weight class.

Second place finishers for Trigg County were Eli Cubick (Elem.), Riley Reynolds (M.S.), Jayvon Jones (M.S.), and Aaron Stevens (M.S.).

Third place finishers were Colin Stevens (Elem.), Jessie Sperry (Elem.), Ryan Galogly (M.S.), and Cody Fisher (M.S.).

Fourth place finishers for Trigg County were Jordan Walker (Elem.), Malik Cunningham (Elem.), and Darren Boren (M.S.).

Bradon Sperry took fifth place, and Sara Miracle was sixth in the elementary division.

The middle school wrestlers will compete in the regional meet Saturday in Larue County.

Trigg County Middle School wrestlers finish fourth

Trigg County's middle school wrestling team finished fourth out of seven teams at the Hopkinsville Orange and Black Tournament Saturday in Hopkinsville.

Romaine Cunningham was named the outstanding wrestler in the middle school division after winning his weight class.

Other first place finishers for Trigg County were Jeremiah Kline, Brian Galogly, and Cody Fisher.

Second place finishers for Trigg were Riley Reynolds and Jayven Jones, while Aaron Stephens and Ethan Dossett finished third, and Keegan Mangles finished fourth in his weight class.

Christian County won the middle school division with UHA second and Hopkinsville third.

First place winners for Christian County were Cameron Montgomery and Trey Johnson.

Trigg County will wrestle again Dec. 29 at Christian County.

Three Trigg wrestlers win at the UHA tourney

Trigg County Middle School finished third out of eight teams at the Tim French Middle School Wrestling Tournament Saturday at University Heights Academy.

Trigg's point total of 138 points trailed only Rossview Middle (160) and UHA (149.5).

First place winners for Trigg County were Jeremiah Kline in the 70-pound class; Riley Reynolds in the 89-pound class; and Gary Barker in the 185-pound class.

Aaron Stevens took second place in the 165-pound class; Daniel Ingram was third in the 96-pound class; Romaine Cunningham was third in the 103-pound class; Jayven Jones was third in the 110-pound class; and Darren Boren was fourth in the heavyweight class.

"I'm proud of them.  For it to be their first meet, they did a tremendous job," said TCMS coach Ralph Stevens of his 17 wrestlers.

Trigg County will wrestle again at the Hopkinsville Middle School Takedown Tournament.
