Trigg swimmers finish strong at region meet

Trigg County's John Reinick became the first Wildcat swimmer to post a top 10 finish at the Region I Meet Saturday in Owensboro.

Reinick finished eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.14, which was eight seconds behind the winner. 

The boys' 200-yard medley relay team of John Reinick, Lev Lewis, Garrett Clark, and Chris Jenkins finished 12th in a time of 2:05.90.  The foursome also finished 13th in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:47.48.

Lev Lewis was 23rd in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.58 seconds.  Garrett Clark was 46th in a time of 29.54.

Lewis was also 25th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:02.62.  Clark as 43rd in a time of 1:08.14.

John Reinick finished 24th in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:15.95.

Chris Jenkins finished 26th in the 200-yard IM in a time of 3:02.03

For the girls, Gillian Rogers was 20th in the 50-yard freestyle in 29.28 seconds.  Macey Dailey was 56th in 35.55, and Erin Reinick was 68th in 39.06.

Ashley Wigand finished 23rd in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:27.89), while Erin Reinick was 45th (1:44.40).

In the 100-yard freestyle, Courtney Harrison was 43rd in a time of 1:12.73 and Macey Dailey was 70th in 1:21.63. 

Harrison finished 46th in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:28.89

200 yard medley relay team of Courtney Harrison, Erin Reinick, Gillian Rogers, and Ashley Wiegand  finished 19th in a time of 2:30.99.

The 200-yard freestyle team of Harrison, Wigand, Dailey, and Rogers was also 19th in a time of 2:11.05.

Swim team competing in region meet today

Trigg County's swim team will be competing in the preliminaries of the Region I Swim Meet in Owensboro today.

Team members are: John Reinick, Erin Reinick, Gillian Rogers, Courtney Harrison, Macey Dailey, Ashley Wigand, Lev Lewis, Chris Jenkins, and Garrett Clark.

The finals will be held Saturday.

Last week at the Best of West Invitational in Bowling Green, Trigg County fared well against some of the best competition in the state.

John Reinick  was sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Trigg takes fourth place at Paducah Invitational

Trigg County finished fourth out of seven teams at the Paducah Invitational Swim Meet Saturday.

Here is how the relay teams finished:

• Girls 200-yard relay - 4th place (2:42.59)
• Boys 200-yard relay - 3rd place (2:08.70)
• Girls 200-yard freestyle relay - 3rd place (2:15.61)
• Boys 200-yard freestyle relay - 2nd place (1:49.02)

Swim team opens season at Hopkinsville

Trigg County opened their 2007 swim season at Hopkinsville, finishing ninth at the Rick Cohn Invitational Saturday.

Here are where the Trigg swimmers finished:

• John Reinick took fourth place in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:14.36, which was seven seconds behind the winner, Kyle Gillenwater of Allen County-Scottsville.  Reinick also finished 10th in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:29.66.
• Girls 200 meter medley relay team of Gillian Rogers, Codie Flood, Courtney Harrison, and Ashley Wiegand finished 8th in 2:40.15.  The same four finished ninth in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 2:16.95
• Boys 200 medley relay team of Garrett Clark, Lev Lewis, Chris Jenkins, and John Reinick finished fifth in a time of 2:12.74, which was 11 second behind the winner, Bowling Green.  The same tandem finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:55.36.
• Ashley Wiegand finished 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:32.80 and was 19th in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 3:01.07
• Chris Jenkins took eighth in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:59.90.
• Gillian Rogers was 27th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 35.15.
• Codie Flood was 26th in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:46.38 and was 36th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 38.28.
• Erin Reinick was 46th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 43.83.
• Lev Lewis was 15th in the boys' 50-yard free style in a time of 29.71.
• Courtney Harrison was 11th in 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:13.09 and 19th in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:31.49.
• Garrett Clark was 14th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:31.83.

Trigg swim team begins third season Saturday

Trigg County will begin their third season of swimming Saturday at the Hopkinsville Invitational.

Jan Woodall is the head coach, and Audrey Jones will be the assistant coach.  Jones swam for 11 years in a league in Evansville, Woodall said.

Swim team honored at banquet

Members of the Trigg County swim team were recognized Monday night at their annual awards banquet at Lake Barkley State Resort Park.

Those winning awards were:

Senior Awards: Ashton Fuller, Sarah Woodall

Academic Awards: Male - John Reinick, Female - Courtney Harrison

Most Improved Swimmer: Male - Garrett Clark, Female - Ashley Wigand

Most Valuable Swimmer: Male - John Reinick, Female: Ashton Fuller, Sarah Woodall

Team Spirit Award: Cody Flood

110% Award: Asami Ota

The swim team just wrapped up their second season and is coached by Jan Woodall.

John Reinick swims to 12th at region meet

Trigg County sophomore John Reinick became the first Wildcat swimmer to score at the region swim meet Saturday in Owensboro.

Reinick finished 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:11.31, scoring a point for Trigg County in the process.  Reinick was the only Trigg swimmer to advance to Saturday's championship final.

I hope to have more results from Trigg's day at the region meet in the next day or so.

Trigg County will be competing in the Region I Swimming Meet today and tomorrow at the Owensboro Health Park.

The semifinals will be today and the finals on Saturday.  In just it's second year, the Wildcat Swim program has never qualified anyone for the state meet.

Trigg County's swimmers prepped for this weekend's region tournament Monday at the 12-team Paducah Tilghman Invitational -- their final regular season meet of the year.
