Ramey Colson wins $125,000 fishing tournament

Ramey_colsonRamey Colson, Jr. of Cadiz picked up his first win on the Wal-Mart FLW Fishing series over the weekend in Alabama and took home $125,000 for his efforts.

Colson won the tournament by a single ounce, vaulting from fourth place to first with a total catch of 17-pounds, two ounces on the final day.

"I never thought it would happen," said Colson.  "I never imagined I’d catch the kind of fish all four days it would take to win."

The win was extra special for Colson because his son Douglas was with him at the tournament.  And Colson shared a special moment about the prior week with his son.

Ramey took Douglas to the family’s preacher over Easter weekend to discuss the meaning of Easter and allowed him and his son to share some special time together.

“It was a very special week in my life even before I got here,” Colson said. “I want to thank God and my family for that.”

Colson has now won almost $300,000 in his career on the FLW circuit.
