Upward League celebration night is tonight

The Trigg County Upward League will conclude their season events tonight with their celebration night at Wildcat Gym.  The night will feature a highlight video, gifts for the players, and giveaways.

The highlight of the night will be a performance by Dave "Travelin" Davlin, who performs a juggling, handling, and spinning show.  Davlin has performed at halftime of several NBA games and has his own show in Branson, Missouri.

Upward players, coaches, volunteers, and their families as well as the public is invited to attend.  Doors open at 5:30pm with the event starting at 6pm.

Free sports physicals Saturday

Jennie Stuart Medical Center will be hosting free physicals Saturday at the hospital in Hopkinsville.

All Trigg County High athletes are encouraged to get the free physical.  Trigg County's time slot begins at 9am. There will be a bus leaving from the field house at 8:15am. Anyone interested should see TCHS athletic director Doug Gloyd for physical forms and more infomation.

The forms need be filled out prior to attending and must be signed by a parent in order to receive your physical.

Youth soccer clinic to be Saturday

The Trigg County Youth Soccer Association will have a U-10 soccer clinic Saturday at 9am at the Trigg County High School Gym Cadiz Baptist Church Annex on Main Street.

All U-10 players who have signed up are invited to attend, and registration forms will be available for players to sign up.

Soccer forms for U-6 and U-8 are also due Saturday.  Their clinic date will be announced later.

Twin lakes to host Wal-Mart Bass Fishing tourney Saturday

The LBL Division of the $8.8 million Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League will descend on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes in Gilbertsville Saturday for the first of five regular-season events.

As many as 200 boaters and 200 co-anglers are expected to compete in the tournament, which will award as much as $45,000 in cash, including a top award of $6,000 in the Boater Division.

The winning co-angler will earn as much as $3,000 cash.  Snickers Big Bass awards of up to $1,000 and $500, respectively, will also be awarded in the Boater and Co-angler Divisions. 

Anglers may register for the tournament online at FLWOutdoors.com or by calling (270) 252-1000. Onsite registration will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wal-Mart store located at 310 W. 5th St. in Benton.  Entry fees are $200 for boaters and $100 for co-anglers.

Kentucky Dam Marina in Gilbertsville will host the takeoff and weigh-in at 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.

The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers in each of the BFL’s 28 divisions at the end of the season advance to a no-entry-fee Regional Championship where boaters fish for a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck and co-anglers fish for a new Ranger boat.

Trigg County ABA team wins regional tournament

Trigg County hosted the ABA Basketball South Regionals over the weekend, and the Trigg County Training Boys "A" Team went undefeated against the Hopkinsville A & B teams to win the tournament and receive a #1 seed at this weekend's atate tournament in Henderson.  Team members are (Back from left) Tyler Spano, Reggie Radford, Jamar Humphries, Tyreke Wilson, Coach Scottie Nance, Austin Calhoun and Reagan Hyde (Front from left) Demaria Nance, Tyler Allen, Ethan Dossett, Tyler Estes and Reid Kuberski.   

Trigg ABA JV team takes second place at regionals

The Trigg County ABA JV "A" team took second place at the Southern Regionals Sunday at Wildcat Gym.. The team beat Hopkinsville "C" & Madisonville "A" twice, before losing to Hopkinsville "A" in the championship game.  The team will be the #2 seed at the state tournament this weekend.  Team members are (Back row) Cardale Bacon, Trace Kuberski, Warren Jones, Luke McKenzie, Brien Dossett, Nick Choate, Cole Gardner and Kullen Garner (Front row) Corbin Estes, Raekwon Stubblefield, Ben Wigand and Clark Adams.  They are coached by Mike Estes. 

Trigg ABA team wins second straight tourney title

The Trigg County Training League ABA All-Star team has won back-to-back tournaments.

Trigg won the Hopkinsville Invitational over the weekend and took first place in the Webster County Invitational two weeks ago.

Team members are Jontae Acree, Tyler Allen, Austin Calhoun, Ethan Dossett, Tyler Estes, Jamar Humphries, Reagan Hyde, Reid Kuberski, DeMaria Nance, Reggie Radford, Tyler Spano and Tyrek "Taco" Wilson.  They are coached by Scottie Nance

A must read if your child is an athlete

I came across this article in the Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle, written by Tom Kuyper of athletesintraining.com.

I kept hearing the tune "Cat's in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin while reading this, but is a very good read if your kids play sports.
