Driving Directions to Union City

Here are the driving directions and a map to Friday night's Trigg County football game at Union City.  Gametime is 7:30pm at Union City.

• From Cadiz, get to the Purchase Parkway.  You can access the Purchase Parkway through Draffenville, Benton, Mayfield, or Fulton.
• Take the Purchase Parkway into Tennessee and get off at the first exit once you cross the state line.  This will be the U.S. 51 and U.S. 45W exit.  Take the road toward Union City.
• When you come to Highway 22 (Section Line Road), get off and go south on Highway 22.  Leaving U.S. 51, it will cloverleaf onto Highway 22.
• You won't go far, and then you will turn onto U.S. 45W/Highway 184 (Nailing Drive).  Head west on this road into Union City.
• In Union City, turn left onto North Miles Avenue (US 45W).  Take this street until you see the school on your right.
• Union City High School is located at 1305 High School Drive.

Driving Directions: Trigg County at Fulton County

Fulton County.   Oh boy.

This is not one of the easier places to get to because of road designs and numbering.  There are probably three good ways to get to Fulton County.

Keep two things in mind.

1.) Fulton County is near Hickman and NOT located in Fulton City.  DO NOT go to Fulton City.

2.) Watch out for the deer.

Now, the three ways to get to Fulton County

#1 - THROUGH MURRAY - Take U.S. 68 into Murray.  You can take the new four-lane and turn left onto U.S. 641 through Murray.  Or you can turn off the four-lane onto old KY 94.  Come to the four-way stop that has the three drug stores and Victor's Sandwiches.  If you come in on KY 94 through downtown Murray, just go straight.  If you came in on the four-lane and turned on U.S. 641, turn right onto KY 94.

You will take KY 94 west through the scenic communities of Lynn Grove, Tri City (where is one city here, let along three cities?), Lynnville, Pilot Oak, and Water Valley.  Right before you come to the Julian Carroll Purchase Parkway, you will turn left in Water Valley on U.S. 45/KY 94.  Continue about two miles until KY 94 turns right.  You will turn onto KY 94.  Stay on KY 94 the entire way, through the tiny hamlet of Cayce.  Continue straight on KY 94.  The school should be seven miles past Cayce on the right.  The street address for the school is 2740 Moscow Avenue. It's about 87 miles from Cadiz if you go this way.

#2 - THROUGH MAYFIELD - Take U.S. 68 west and turn left onto KY 402 (old KY 80), going through Hardin and into Mayfield.  In Mayfield, continue straight until you reach the Julian Carroll Purchase Parkway.  Get on the parkway and go south.  Get off the Purchase Parkway at Exit #1 (U.S. 51).  Turn right onto U.S. 51 (north) and travel north to the KY 94 intersection (about 2.5 miles).  Turn left onto KY 94 and follow the road through Cayce.  The school should be seven miles past Cayce on the right.  The street address for the school is 2740 Moscow Avenue.  It's about 93 miles from Cadiz if you go this way.

#3 - I-24 TO THE PURCHASE PARKWAY - Take I-24 to the Purchase Parkway south.  Take the Purchase Parkway south and get off at Exit #1 (U.S. 51).  Turn right onto U.S. 51 (north) and travel north to the KY 94 intersection (about 2.5 miles).  Turn left onto KY 94 and follow the road through Cayce.  The school should be seven miles past Cayce on the right.  The street address for the school is 2740 Moscow Avenue.  It's about 106 miles from Cadiz if you go this way. 

Now, you can get off in Fulton and take KY 166 and come in that way, which we did nine years ago, but the choices above appear to be the shortest.

Directions to Hopkins County Central

I have gotten several e-mails this week about how to get to Hopkins County Central for Friday's football game.

I have dusted off the map and posted the map below.  Remember, you can zoom in and out on the map to get your bearings.  Also listed below are directions in case a map does you no good.

• Take U.S. 68 to Hopkinsville and get on the Pennyrile Parkway north toward Madisonville.
• Get off Exit 37 at Morton's Gap and turn on KY 813 at the end of the ramp towards Morton's Gap (go back under the parkway).
• Drive a couple of miles until the road intersects with U.S. 41.  Turn right.
• Hopkins County Central High School is on the left.

You can also take U.S. 41 north from Hopkinsville and find the school on the left once you enter Morton's Gap.

Driving Directions to Owensboro Catholic

Driving directions to Owensboro Catholic are pretty much the same this year as they were last year, and the year before, and the year before that.  Frederica Street is your main destination, although this year you are driving to Kentucky Wesleyan College instead of Rash Stadium.  The game will be played at Steele Stadium, which is on the campus of KWC.

The easiest way to go is through Central City and take U.S. 431 north.  Once you come into Owensboro, U.S. 431 becomes Frederica Street.  Plus, U.S. 431 is a little better road than driving through Calhoun or Beech Grove.  I'll try and give you both sets of directions.

Going through Central City

• Take the Pennyrile Parkway north, take exit 34A toward Elizabethtown on the Western Kentucky Parkway.
• Get off exit 58 (U.S. 431) and drive through Central City, staying on U.S. 431.
• You will continue on U.S. 431 through the towns of South Carrollton, Island, and Livermore.
• Once you come into Owensboro, you will pass under the bypass.  Continue straight.
• Turn left on either College Street or President's Drive.  DO NOT PARK ON COLLEGE STREET OR THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE STADIUM.

Going through Beech Grove and bypassing Calhoun

• Pennyrile Parkway north through Madisonville and get off at exit 63.
• Take KY 56 east into Beech Grove and veer left, staying on KY 56.
• KY 56 will take you through St. Joseph and West Louisville.  Stay on KY 56.
• KY 56 will take you into Owensboro (and past a famous BBQ restaurant).
• KY 56 becomes KY 81.  Turn right onto Frederica Street and continue until you reach the campus of KWC.  Turn right on either College Street or President's Drive.  DO NOT PARK ON COLLEGE STREET OR THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE STADIUM.

Driving Directions to Lone Oak

Once again, Trigg County travels to a stadium that isn't at the high school.

Directions to Lone Oak are very easy.

• Take I-24 toward Paducah and exit at Exit 4 (Lourdes Hospital exit)
• Turn left on Highway 45 (Lone Oak Road)
• Turn left on Bleich Road (KY 3074), just past the K-Mart.  Stadium is on the right.

• Take Pennyrile Parkway north from Hopkinsville.
• Take Exit 33 (Greenville/Nortonville exit) and take U.S. 62 East to Greenville (about 15 miles)
• When the road ends at a 'T' intersection with Highway 181, turn right then turn left on Pritchett Drive.  The stadium is located at Muhlenberg South Middle School.

Driving Directions to Hopkins County Central

Here are the driving directions to Friday's football game at Hopkins County Central:

• Take U.S. 68 to Hopkinsville and get on the Pennyrile Parkway north toward Madisonville.
• Get off Exit 37 at Morton's Gap and turn left (KY 813) at the end of the ramp.
• Drive a couple of miles until the road intersects with U.S. 41.  Turn right.
• Hopkins County Central High School is on the left.

You can also take U.S. 41 north from Hopkinsville and find the school on the left once you enter Morton's Gap.

Directions to Franklin-Simpson

Directions for those of you going to the Franklin-Simpson Pigskin Classic Saturday in Franklin.

You can go one of two ways but the last stretch remains unchanged.

• Take U.S. 68 east to I-24 and go towards Clarksville.
• Get off I-24 at Exit 4 and turn left onto U.S. 79 toward Russellville.
• When you come into Russellville at the U.S. 68 intersection, veer right onto Highway 100.
• Take Highway 100 into Franklin.  At a four-way stop in Franklin, turn right onto College Street.  Follow College Street to the top of the hill and turn right.

You can also take U.S. 68 east through Hopkinsville and around Elkton.  In Russellville at the stop light, turn right at the U.S. 68 bypass and continue until the U.S. 79 intersection.  Turn left and continue to Highway 100.
