The region favorites drew opposite brackets in the Second Region Girls' Soccer Tournament that gets underway Monday at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.
On Monday at 5:30pm, Lyon County (8-12) will play Christian County (6-11-3). Lyon County won the regular season matchup 2-1.
At 7:30, 14th ranked Madisonville (18-1-1) will play Union County (10-8). The teams played two weeks ago with the Lady Maroons winning 8-1.
On Tuesday at 5:30pm, 23rd ranked Hopkinsville (17-3) will play Trigg County (8-7-2). Hoptown won 11-1 back on August 28th. Trigg County will be looking to win their first-ever game in the region tournament. It will be the fifth straight year Trigg and Hoptown has met in the first round of the region tourney.
At 7:30pm, Henderson County (9-7-4) will face Caldwell County (10-10-1). Henderson won the only regular season contest 8-1 August 20th in Princeton.
The semifinals will be played Wednesday at 6pm and 7:30pm.
The championship will be Thursday at 7pm.
This marks the first time for the eight-team, three-game region tournament format.
