LaRue County beat Lone Oak 64-52 Wednesday to claim the championship of the KME Classic. The title comes two years after LaRue's boys won the first KME Classic.
The Lady Hawks finished 4-0 in the tournament and have a 10-2 record on the season.
Lone Oak (8-3) turned around and beat Allen County-Scottsville 54-53 to claim second place.
In the final girls game of the night, Caldwell County got 22 points from Casey Stone and 14 more from Jessy Stone to beat Trigg County 77-48. Caldwell jumped out to a 22-13 lead after one quarter and pushed it to 37-21 at halftime.
Ashley Matlock led Trigg County with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Le'Onzerrae Grubbs added 14 points and four assists. Brooke Kearney hit two 3-pointers and finished with six points.
The Lady Wildcats played without point guard Alyssa Maxey who was at a Garth Brooks concert, according to her Facebook page.
Caldwell County improves to 2-8 with the win, losing three games in the KME Classic by a total of just 17 points.
Trigg County falls to 2-7 on the season with their sixth straight loss. The Lady Wildcats will play in the McLean County Lady Cougar After Christmas Tournament next week. Trigg will play Caverna (2-5) Dec. 27 at 4pm. Other teams in the tournament are the host team McLean County (4-4) along with Carlisle County (2-4), Todd County Central (4-2), Reidland (2-6), Estill County (4-4), and Lone Oak (8-3).
