Trigg County had five wrestlers qualify for the state middle school wrestling tournament following their performance at the Region I Meet Saturday at Union County.
Jeremiah Kline won the 82-pound division, while Skylar Pool (131), Daniel Ingram (103), and Aaron Stevens finished second. Jayven Jones was third in the 140-pound class. All five will advance to state middle school tournament Feb. 6 at Central Hardin High School.
As a team, Trigg County finished second out of nine teams with 109 points. North Hardin won with 176 points, and Caldwell County was third with 104 points.
The Christian County Middle School team finished fifth. Placing for the Colonels were Lance Cooper at 124, Marshawn Taylor at 165, Xavier Pate at 185 and Tevin Tolar at 230.
The Christian County High School team finished third at the Region I Duals Meet, also held at Union County.
The Colonels defeated Calloway County- 60-22, Paducah Tilghman- 54-22, and Daviess County- 60-21. The Colonels lone loss in their pool was to Fort Campbell- 50-24. In the 3rd place match the Colonels defeated Apollo- 59-24 to finish 4-1 on the day and run their season dual record to 18-11.
Going 5-0 on the day for Christian County were J.J. Killebrew at 112, Kory Polley at 130, Jeron Trice at 160, Nick White at 171 and Marlon Pate at 285. Finishing 4-1 on the day were Asa Odoms at 103, and Micah Crutcher at 189.
Trigg County finished seventh in the duals, beating Calloway County and Paducah Tilghman.
Trigg County will wrestle at Calloway County next weekend, while Christian County will wrestle Thursday at University Heights versus the Blazers and Hopkinsville High School.
