Christian County wins second straight volleyball district title
Christian County has won back-to-back district volleyball titles for the first time in school history following their 25-17, 25-17 win over Hopkinsville Tuesday at Colonel Gym.
Carly P'Pool had 6 blocks, 3 kills and 3 aces.
Kayla Wade had 17 assists and 2 aces.
Michelle O'Quinn had 6 kills.
Casey Castile had 5 kills, 1 ace and a .964 passing percentage.
Shelby Allison had 4 kills and 1 ace.
Courtney Baker had 4 kills and 1 block.
Brianna Outland had 2 kills, 1 ace and a .919 passing percentage.
Annie Coleman had a .900 passing percentage
For Hopkinsville, Tori Beth Nolan had four blocks and three kills, and Lindsey Ezell had three assists.
"The girls did a great job tonight of keeping the ball alive and being aggressive. They played as a team and did not give up on each other. Our passing and attacking was great. We moved the ball around to all six of our hitters very well. We also served very well and hit our spots. I am very proud of how well the team played," CCHS coach Rick Erickson said.
Hopkinsville advanced to the title game with a 25-19, 26-28, 26-24 win over Fort Campbell.
Nolan had eight kills, Ezell had eight aces and six kills, Kaitlyn Kemp had 20 assists, and Clayton Cassidy had 15 assists.
For Christian County, Kayla Wade, Casey Castile, Michelle O'Quinn and Carly P'Pool were named to the All-District Team, while Tori Beth Nolan, Kaitlyn Kemp, and Nu'u Falatafuga were named to the team from Hopkinsville.
Both Christian County (24-8) and Hopkinsville (7-17) will advance to next week's region tourney at Madisonville. For Hoptown, it's their first trip to the region tourney since 2005.
Meanwhile, Caldwell County ended Trigg County's season with a 25-2, 25-6 win in the 7th District Tournament at Wildcat Gym.
For the Lady Wildcats, their season ends with a record of 3-18.
Caldwell County (30-3) will play Livingston Central (26-7) in Thursday's title game. Livingston was a straight-set winner over Crittenden County.
