Transylvania golfer Bradley Sutherland is in second place, one shot behind the leader after three rounds of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Sutherland, the defending conference champion, remained steady after three rounds, shooting a 5-over-par 77 at Ashton Oaks in North Bend, Ohio.
He is one shot behind Franklin College's Eric Whittaker, who rebounded from a first round 83 to shoot 5-over in the next two rounds combined.
There is no such drama for the team title where Transylvania takes a 25 shot lead into the final round.
The Pioneers are looking for their third consecutive HCAC Tourney win and a bid to the NCAA Division III Championship, scheduled for May 13-16 in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
