Trigg County's seventh grade ABA team placed 20th out of 53 teams over the weekend at the State 7th Grade Basketball Tournament in Lexington.
The ABA team took the place of Trigg County's middle school team, who opted not to play in the event because of the weather.
The ABA team opened tournament play with a 38-33 win over McGoffin County Middle School. Trigg used a 14-8 fourth quarter to get the win as Cole Gardner had 21 points, and Luke McKenzie scored seven. Corbin Estes and Clark Adams added five points each.
Trigg County beat Fleming County 45-27 in the second round using an 18-4 third quarter run to seal the win. Luke McKenzie scored 21 points for Trigg County. Cole Gardner and Corbin Estes scored six each, and Kullen Garner scored four points. Clark Adams, Brien Dossett, and Warren Jones each scored two points.
Trigg County bowed out of the tournament with a 32-28 loss to Southern Pulaski Middle. A 9-4 third quarter run by SPMS proved to be the difference in the game. Cole Gardner led Trigg with 13 points, hile Luke McKenzie scored eight points, Clark Adams five, and Corbin Estes two points.
