Trigg County 13 Lyon County 12
Trigg County held off a late Lyon County rally to beat the Lyons 13-12 Sunday afternoon in a Fifth District game at the Complex.
Trigg scored in every inning and led 13-7 heading into the final frame before the Lyons rallied for five runs in the seventh. They had the tying run at first base when Donald Bush induced the final out of the game to pick up the save.
Mitch Rogers was 5-for-5 at the plate, continuing his hot streak on offense. He had four singles and a double and scored five runs.
Will Stagner had four hits, including two doubles, and drove in five runs. Jamey Guinn added three hits and two RBIs, and Josh Green also had two hits and an RBI for the Wildcats, who had 19 hits on the afternoon.
The teams combined for 25 runs, 34 hits, and 11 errors.
Hunter Smilie picked up the pitching win for the Wildcats, who improved to 11-11 overall and 4-2 in the district.
Lyon County fell to 5-11 overall and 0-6 in district play. Three of their six losses were by two runs or less.
